Waiting in the Dark// Rooted Part 3 // Pastor Greg Colbert
Genesis 8:22 (NKJV)
“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.”
God has built the world on unchanging principles—Seed | Time | Harvest—and the same applies to your spiritual life. In this week’s message, we explore what it means to be ROOTED: to be firmly established, anchored, and nourished in Christ, so your faith stands strong no matter what comes your way.
Before you can rise, there must be a digging down.
Before Elevation, there must be Excavation.
When your life is truly rooted in Jesus, the process becomes clear:
Rooted → Faithful → Fruitful → Multiply.
But where are your roots planted?
Is your heart soil Wayside, Stony, Thorny… or Good?
We dive into big questions:
— Have you been faithful to what God gave you?
— Are you trying to replant over and over instead of staying rooted?
— Have you sanctified your perspective in the dark seasons?
— Are you ALL IN?
Because potential alone doesn’t produce fruit—faithfulness does.
Potential doesn’t guarantee fruitfulness. It only guarantees possibility.

Ground Rules // Rooted Part 2 // Pastor Greg Colbert
📖 Ground Rules | Thrive City Church | ROOTED Series
In this powerful message from our ROOTED series, we dive into the Parable of the Sower found in Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23. Jesus outlines four types of ground—and only one produces lasting fruit. What kind of soil is your heart?
From the Wayside, to the Stony, to the Thorny, and finally to the Good Ground, this message challenges us to excavate what's beneath the surface and evaluate what kind of foundation our faith is built on. Before God elevates us, He often needs to dig deep.
🪨 Are you rooted enough to endure trials?
🌾 Are the thorns of worry or worldly pursuits choking out your purpose?
🌱 Are you cultivating good soil so your life can multiply in fruitfulness?
You were created in God's image to be Rooted → Faithful → Fruitful → Multiply (Genesis 1:27–28). But before the harvest, there must be healthy ground. Let God prepare your heart.
🙌 “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish…” – Psalm 92:13
❤️ “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you…” – Ezekiel 36:26
👑 “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” – Matthew 6:33
Control the controllables—God provides the seed, but we prepare the soil.

ROOTED | Thrive City Church 2026 Vision Message 🌱
Welcome to our 2026 vision message at Thrive City Church! This year, we believe God is calling us to go deeper—to become ROOTED in Christ like never before.
In a world that prizes surface-level success, God is inviting us into depth. Just like a tree draws strength from deep roots, our spiritual growth depends on how anchored we are in Him. Your capacity for fruit is determined by the depth of your roots. 🌳
📖 Key Scriptures:
John 16:13 AMP – The Spirit of Truth will guide you into all truth.
Colossians 2:7 NLT – Let your roots grow down into Him...
Psalm 1:1–3 AMP – Be like a tree planted by streams of water...
Jeremiah 17:7–8 NLT – Trees with deep roots thrive in any season.
Luke 5:4 NKJV – Launch out into the deep.
Romans 12:2 – Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
🛠 What does it mean to be rooted?
To be rooted is to be firmly established, anchored, and nourished in Christ so that your faith remains steady, no matter what life brings. In 2026, God wants to create space, sanctify our foundations, and prepare us for multiplication.
⚒️ This is a Capacity Year.
God is excavating what's beneath the surface to develop us internally before He multiplies us externally. Rooted → Faithful → Fruitful → Multiply.
🌊 Will your life create a ripple effect of righteousness or decay?
Ripe Ripples: Maturity that reproduces healthy impact.
Rotten Ripples: Premature exposure that spreads brokenness.
🔥 Let 2026 be the year your private devotion fuels your public impact.
